Job Overview

Web content writer specializes in writing publishable material for websites. Depending on his or her employer, a content writer may be required to specialize in one topic area. Unique job titles are associated with distinct kinds of content writing; these titles include copywriter, technical writer, ghost writer, professional writer, and blogger. Content writers may alternatively be called content developers; however, this title also denotes jobs outside of the scope of content writing (such as content editing).

 Responsibilities of Content Writer

  • Writing: Serve as lead writer and copy-editor for firm, overseeing all writing services. Research, write, repurpose or edit copy for a wide variety of communications pieces, including news releases, op-eds, contributed articles, fact sheets, position papers, letters, direct mail, newsletters, brochures, marketing collateral, advertising, website copy, public relations, public affairs and marketing plans, presentations, adversarial, client correspondence and reports
  • Quality Control & Editing: Oversee quality review of all client- and media-ready materials
  • Social Media: Assist with providing multimedia content for agency and client social media activities, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn
  • Strategic Client, Business Development & Agency Planning: Participate in strategic writing planning for clients, proactively identifying writing assignments that benefit clients and help them achieve their goals as well as support the business development process with effective proposal development
  • Writing Coach & Mentoring: Mentor all staff on writing improvement and Potential opportunity to manage intern
  • Time Management: Track billable time precisely and consistently on a daily basis

Skills Required:

  • Exceptional verbal and interpersonal communications skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Publisher is a must
  • Experience being extremely organized and detail-oriented with strong project and time management skills
  • Highly collaborative leadership skills, and a demonstrated ability to work well within a dynamic organization and with diverse colleagues
  • Understanding of public relations, public affairs and marketing communications strategies and tactics
  • Positive attitude and motivation; proactive
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and teamwork skills; ability to effectively prioritize projects and manage expectations
  • Solid judgment with high standards of accuracy, responsiveness, integrity and discretion
  • Experience with tight deadlines in high-pressure situations
  • Ability to multi-task effectively
  • Ability to sit at a computer for long periods


The candidate should have minimum following Qualification:

  • Graduate from a recognized university
